On May 27, 2025, Ed Gale, the actor best known for playing the legendary horror doll Chucky in the Child's Play series, died at the age of 61. He passed away in Los Angeles under hospice care. Officially, the cause of death has not been revealed.
Gale was three feet four inches tall and had dwarfism from birth. At the age of 20, he relocated to California with the goal of becoming an actor, and in 1986, he had his debut in the starring role of Howard the Duck. His physical portrayal of Chucky in the 1988 original Child's Play movie and its follow-ups helped him become even more famous. He had appearances in more than 130 films, TV series, and advertisements over his career.
Gale was the subject of a criminal investigation for reportedly trying to solicit sex from youngsters in the years preceding his death. He reportedly acknowledged trying to meet and have sexually suggestive discussions with a man he thought was a teenager.
In a touching Facebook message, Gale's niece Kayse Gale acknowledged his death and called it a "sudden passing." She recalled how he went from being a young aspirant with only $41 to becoming a well-known actor with more than 130 credits.
Ed Gale's contribution to the horror genre, especially his portrayal of Chucky, is still noteworthy. However, his public image has become more complex due to the circumstances surrounding his later years.
